Retailer EPOS analysis across Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons

Optia Data delivers Golden Acre Foods a harmonised weekly view of performance across Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons every Wednesday, with 104 weeks of category and retailer history rebuilt. Optia lists retailer EPOS and sell-out data among its areas of expertise and data sources. Each new delivery is checked against expected product counts, category totals, classifications and historical patterns before it is published.

Golden Acre Foods: four grocers, one weekly view

Golden Acre Foods is a £130 million UK supplier of Halal, Polish and international food and a certified B Corp, working with all four major UK grocers.

Optia took on the weekly processing and harmonisation of Golden Acre's retailer data because, for a lean business without a dedicated data engineering function, maintaining it internally would have taken time better spent elsewhere.

Optia resolved around 2,700 incomplete SKU records, built a classification that separates Halal, Polish and other international ranges, and removed rows for stores with no active distribution that were inflating the reported base. When a five-week gap appeared in Golden Acre's Asda data, Optia identified the missing periods, documented the issue and coordinated the correction and reload with the source provider.

Golden Acre receives its harmonised view every Wednesday and reports that report preparation time has fallen by around 30%. As the team places new products into test and expands its ranges, it evaluates performance against two years of consistent retailer history instead of assembling the picture by hand each week.

What makes a weekly retailer view comparable

Optia's published methods include product and category hierarchy mapping across incompatible source taxonomies and reconciliation to dataset totals where source data is masked.

Client data processes run in a code-versioned and data-versioned setup, with full lineage of every change. Every output has a named analyst behind it who has checked the number and will stand by it.

Other retailer work

Henkel's reporting includes a dedicated retailer view across three major UK grocers, delivered by the team now operating as Optia.

Samworth Brothers' model includes retailer performance, with NielsenIQ EPOS among the external sources.

Vit Hit's model covers three levels of the Great Britain market: total grocery, impulse and discounters. It shows distribution and promotion next to sales, so the team can see whether growth came from wider or narrower distribution, promotion, price or rate of sale. The self-serve dashboard can be filtered by retailer, time period, format, brand and market, and Optia trained the sales team to use it directly.
